Kerikeri is a great destination for backpackers

While the township does not have a beach, there are excellent swimming beaches not far away, at Matauri Bay. From the Kerikeri Airport, west of the town, you can charter a plane for a look around the islands, or try tandem parachute jumping. One of the most popular places to visit is the Rainbow Falls, on the Kerikeri River. The area has dozens of arts and craft outlets, offering high quality art. And don’t miss the Farmers Market, held in the Post Shop car park, every Sunday morning from 9–12noon.

Good Kerikeri accommodation options include Pukanui Bed & Breakfast and Kingfisher Retreat.
