Golden Downs Lodge

Golden Downs Lodge is a comfortable and secluded retreat. Owned and operated by the Cameron family, the lodge is an old village hall that has been renovated to create an exclusive base from which the Nelson region can be explored.

Accommodation is in double, twin share, or family rooms. Each room has its own shower and bathroom. The lodge has a spacious living and dining area, outside decks, and thirty acres of tree covered grounds. Meals are prepared by our chef from produce grown at our nearby farm at Kohatu, augmented with other carefully selected local ingredients. Your stay will be a gourmet experience.

The Lodge is primarily used as the base for the three and five day guided walking holidays that we offer. The guided walking holidays include fully catered accommodation at the lodge, transport, and a guided walk each day in a new area of the Nelson wilderness. The walk sizes are limited to up to eight adults in double/twin share rooms, or in family/shared rooms up to 12.

In addition to the lodge's role as the base for our walking holidays, we also offer bed and breakfast accommodation, with options for lunch and dinner too. Stay at the lodge for a few days and discover Nelson at your leisure. Our central location allows for a wide ranging exploration. We can also arrange part guided/part independant holidays and can provide fishing guiding. If you want to stay at the lodge and just relax - you're welcome!
