Matakana Farm - Arapawa Sheep Stud and Farmstay
Matakana Farm is approximately one hour north of Auckland Harbour Bridge; 15 minutes east of Warkworth which is located on State Highway 1.
The guest facilities consist of one king and one twin bedroom, separate guest bathroom (with bath), two toilets (one with its own vanity unit) and a separate lounge.
The bedrooms, lounge and exterior deck have magnificent views east across our lifestyle block to Pt Wells, Ti Point, Omaha and the sea.
We are a stud farm, breeding Arapawa sheep; a rare, feral sheep from Arapawa Island in the Marlborough Sounds. We have a pet Romney called Lily, three Highland cross cattle and four dairy cows. Lambs are born in late spring, from October onward. Our animals are friendly and most can be hand-fed. Guests are welcome to wander over the property or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
We are five minutes from the (now) famous Matakana Market with its three boutique cinemas and speciality shops and within a 15 minute radius of wineries, cafes, Goat Island Marine Reserve and numerous tourist attractions.
Join us for breakfast, or dine out at one of the excellent local cafes. Our home is sunny and warm and our aim is for guests to leave feeling relaxed and spoiled.
Unfortunately, the accommodation is not suitable for children.

$120.00 per couple, room only (with a complimentaly cup of coffee and a hot muffin) or $150.00 per couple, including a substantial continental breakfast. Tea and coffee available all day.

Travel north on State Highway 1 to Warkworth, approximately one hour north of Auckland Harbour Bridge. At the second set of traffic lights (at the northern end of Warkworth) turn right and immediately bear left into Leigh Road. Continue towards Matakana, Omaha, Goat Island Marine Reserve and Tawharanui. At the Matakana round-a-bout, bypass Matakana Village (to the left), going straight ahead towards Leigh. We are the fourth road on the right (Tongue Farm Road, Takatu Road, Quintal Road, then Upper Whangateau Road). There is a bus shelter on the corner. Number 35 Upper Whangateau Road is on the left. There is a red and black letterbox opposite our entranceway - we do not have any signage advertising our farmstay! There is plenty of parking by the house. Features and services: Guests are welcome in our home - the only farmstay in the Matakana area. Feed the sheep, wander over the property or relax inside or outside while enjoying magnificent views over our lifestyle block. On the property there are pockets of native bush with abundant birdlife, and quiet spots to enjoy a bottle of wine. You would think you were in the middle of nowhere at the bottom of the property!
