Birds Ferry Lodge ideally situated to explore the Northern West Coast of the South Island. The lodge provides luxurious west coast lodge accommodation, great food and wines and warm hospitality.
We pride ourselves in being able to spend time with our guests (Maximum 6). Andre will be happy to share his extensive knowledge of the South Island.
There is a huge variety of things to see and do and many of our guests schedule staying for at least two nights to fit everything in. We offer a complimentary local guiding service http://www.birdsferrylodge.co.nz/guiding.aspx for guests who stay for more that 1 night. Lunch is included in this service.
Birds Ferry Lodge is located on a terrace overlooking the sea and is surrounded by native forest and pakihi, an unusual local landscape. The Lodge is surrounded by stunning views and is exceptionally peaceful. A number of species of native bird, including bellbird, visit our bird-feeding table whilst larger birds soar on the thermals above.
There are gardens and tunnel houses which we will be happy to show to you. Most of the vegetables used in the kitchen are home grown and our free-range hens and ducks provide the best eggs you will have for breakfast.
With 15 years experience in the Hospitality Business Alison's cooking is her forte. A cooked breakfast is served at a time to suit you in the Dining Room, overlooking native bush. A three course dinner with wine is available @ $75 per person when booked one day in advance. Should you arrive without pre booking your dinner a light supper may be available subject to availability.
Guests enjoy the use of their own lounge area with an open log fire and comfortable leather upholstery. On the deck overlooking the ocean is the heated spa which can be enjoyed at any time of the day. The house bar is available with a carefully selected range of New Zealand wines to choose from. Complimentary Hot and Cold (Non Alcoholic) beverages are available at any time.
The Lodge is Smoke Free with ashtrays provided outside for smokers. A Laundry service for non delicate items is complimentary. Internet available.
Price guide
$200-$350 per night for two persons sharing a queen room, includes cooked breakfast and use of Lodge facilities - Spa, Bicycles etc.

From the South - After passing through Charleston, drive for 8k and turn left off the highway at out roadside sign. Proceed down our private road for another 1.7k.From the North - From Westport proceed South on State highway 6 for 17k and turn right off the highway at out roadside sign. Proceed down our private road for another 1.7k.
