Menteith Country House
Menteith so named after an ancient Graham clan in Scotland , is a newly built home designed with your comfort in mind and nestles among mature trees with spectacular mountain views and easy 15 min city/airport access.
The tranquil 10 acre farmlet supports a lucerne crop, a small flock of alpacas (to provide specialist fleeces for Fay's spinning where you're welcome to try your hand!) and 6 beehives (to maintain Stephen's interest and expertise in this fascinating industry)
Attractive guest rooms with well equipped ensuite bathrooms wrap around the heated spa and swimming pool conservatory, which is a great place to relax after a busy day sightseeing. Robes are provided.
The Port Hills Room with its magical view from the queen bed, collects the morning sun while the Copland and Elie Rooms, both with flexible king or twin beds, overlook the garden. Be pampered with crisp linen, large fluffy towels, refrigerator, tea and coffee facilities, TV, phone, hairdryer, heating and warm cosy beds. Wireless internet and laundry facilities available.
Hearty breakfasts with local produce, are served in our sunny dining room - the time is your choice. Several delightful reasonably priced restaurants and wineries are nearby. Join us for drinks and nibbles around 6pm.
Lincoln golf course and university just 3km. Our retirement interests include golf, , skiing, genealogy and travel and our family.
Smoking is welcome outside. Whisky our cat, shares our home with us.
Menteith is very conveniently located for day trips to Akaroa on Banks Peninsula or a journey on the Trans Alpine Rail to visit the contrasting West Coast of the South Island.
Your hosts Fay and Stephen have spent their working lives involved in tourism mainly at Franz Josef Glacier on the West Coast of the South Island and are happy to share their extensive knowledge of the ‘special’ places you would love to visit.

Directions to Menteith Country House
From Christchurch:From city take Blenheim Road and just past Wigram Base (plane on plinth) turn left into Springs Road. Follow signs to Prebbleton and drive 3 km further to Menteith (on left) Next property after Eastwood Lodge stud.
From the south:
Turn right at Burnham and drive 18 km to the Lincoln University round-a-bout. Turn left into Springs Road. Menteith Country House is in the right, just after the third crossroad (Robinson Road).
