Mainholm Lodge

Mainholm Lodge, Gore, Southland, New Zealand

Mainholm was originally built as a grand family home in 1908, was the star of a New Zealand feature film in 1990 and now provides luxury 4.5 star-rated accommodation and easy style fine dining.

In an area of New Zealand renowned for its breathtaking scenery, Mainholm Lodge is ideally located for exploring this beautiful country. Queenstown, Wanaka, Dunedin, the wineries of Central Otago, Lord of the Rings country and The Catlins are all within easy driving distance.

Mainholm boasts many local attractions including:

* Fly fishing on the world famous Pomahaka, Mataura and Waipahi rivers
* Hunting in the native bush gullies for deer and wild pig
* Golf at Tapanui & Clinton
* Bush walking and native bird watching in the Blue Mountains including the rare Mohua (bush canary)
* The lighthouse and sea wildlife at Nugget Point

Our beautiful grounds, sauna and library provide the ideal chance to sit back and unwind if you are after an altogether more relaxing break.

The grand, elegant décor in Mainholm Lodge provides the perfect backdrop for our very popular restaurant open to guests and the public. Our crystal chandeliered banquet room is perfect for that special occasion, the dining room for smaller groups and cosy dinners for two. Weddings, business functions and parties feel special when held in our grounds.

Mainholm is a special place to relax and enjoy first class accommodation whilst exploring this region of New Zealand. We are located near the township of Tapanui and easily accessible from Dunedin Airport. Please take the time to browse our website for more information on this beautiful homestead and restaurant and contact Graham and Sandi for further information and reservations.
