West Wellow Lodge

West Wellow Lodge is stunning Qualmark 5 star two-storeyed accommodation on the western side of the Taupo township set amidst glorious gardens and with the most incredible views imaginable. The word "Wellow" is of Celtic origin, meaning 'the ridge by the spring'. West Wellow Lodge is on a ridge, but instead of just a spring, there is the beautiful, deep blue expanse of Lake Taupo itself.

West Wellow Lodge is truly a step back in time, to the elegance, comfort and style of England in the late 1800's. This home is a beautiful example of the kind of hotel accommodation that can be achieved by the amalgamation of English country luxury with New Zealand spirit.

Each of the four suites has been named after native New Zealand birds, with an original watercolour painting of the particular bird on the wall. The theme also continues with the painted bedside tables, and to complete the picture, your brass room key keeper has the name of the suite on it.

Each room has it's own superb ensuite facilities and either king or queen sized beds. All have French doors accessing either the garden or the large upstairs verandah. They all have their own heating, full length mirrors, sumptuous bathrobes for guests to use during their stay, pure cotton bed linen and complimentary toiletries - after shave, moisturiser, shower or bath gel, shampoo, conditioner, shower caps and soap. Fresh, luxuriously soft towels are changed twice daily and are always available.

The upstairs rooms have a small kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities, refrigerator, microwave oven and a selection of fresh homemade baking replenished daily.

Your bed is turned down at night, with chocolates and flowers on the pillow. There are no telephones in the rooms - just right for the peace and quiet needed. However, the telephone can be accessed downstairs. There are no televisions in the rooms, but please ask and one will be happily supplied for you.
