Riverside of Cambridge Motor Lodge
The Riverside is located on the banks of the Waikato River at the point where navigation on the river ceased due to the narrowing of the river and start of many rapids. It was the point that the military used as the final unloading station for ships and the area was known as "The Landing". The Riverside Restaurant has a large outdoor courtyard for dining which is known also as "The Landing". A plaque on the wall at the main reception records the events.
During the previous 3 or 4 years Riverside Motor Lodge & Conference Centre has been marketed as Riverside of Cambridge due to the impending opening of the Riverside Casino in Hamilton only 15 minutes drive away.
Built around 35 years ago Riverside is currently enjoying popularity close to that of its hey-day. The venue is marketed as a warm, friendly family style operation with a permanent staff of 30 people including some part-time. Room serves breakfast is available 7 days a week.
The venue is very quiet, with ample off street parking and is very popular with Vintage Car Clubs as parking is private and sheltered from the public's eye.
Riverside Motor Lodge has 31 Studio units, three Family Units and all are serviced daily.
All of Riverside's units include: a telephone, a shower (11 units contain a bath also), heating, electric blankets and one with wheel chair access. There is a guest laundry available. Other household necessities include: an iron, a hair dryer, a cot and a high chair all available upon request.
The Riverside is set on two hectares of landscaped gardens and picturesque views, overlooking the beautiful Waikato River.
During the summer months, group dining and functions are held on our beautiful courtyard area, making the most of the fabulous setting.
