Wanaka Bakpaka

Wanaka Bakpaka offers quality budget backpacker accommodation for the independent traveller. We are the only hostel in Wanaka located right on the lakeside giving you spectacular picture postcard views of Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps. Away from the town hustle but still only a 5 minute lakeside stroll to the centre for shopping, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Bedrooms
Wanaka Bakpaka offers you a choice of quality budget options ranging from double rooms with ensuite to twin rooms, 3 or 4 bed share rooms and dorm rooms which sleep no more than 5.
We also have a girls only dorm with ensuite and a small single room. There are sinks in every room and enough bathrooms and showers for everyone!

Lounge/Dining Room
Relax on the comfy bean bags and meet people in our open plan cosy lounge and dining area with roaring log fire for those cold winter nights.

Gaze through the large windows giving you spectacular picture postcard views of Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps. Stocked with daily newspapers, book exchange, magazines, games and high speed broadband internet access to keep you occupied.

We have a TV-less atmosphere with music from breakfast Vivaldi to afternoon chill out tunes and evening jazz.

kitchen/Laundry
Our spacious communal kitchen is well equipped with ovens, fridges, food storage areas and cooking equipment. We also have a laundry room with washing machines, dryers and an outside clothes line. In summer we have a store room for left luggage and in winter a drying room for wet weather gear.
